Model

Expression of all knowledge relevant to a living system behavior as a software model is prerequisite to recapitulating that behavior on a computer. Biocellion models integrate interdisciplinary knowledge at multiple spatial and temporal scales into one whole-system model at cell-resolution. Biocellion Services include creating Biocellion models specific to customer needs and training customers to extend and evolve these models to incorporate new knowledge as it accrues.

Simulate

Once a model has been developed, the Biocellion Simulation Platform faithfully advances it through time, calculating precisely the modeled behavior of each individual cell, interactions between cells, and interactions of the whole system with the molecular and physical environment.

The simulation platform has been developed from the get-go with high-performance and scalability in mind: the same model grown to millions of cells on a laptop will grow to billions of cells on a supercomputer -- without any changes and in about the same amount of time.

Performance

Simulation rate in steps-per-minute (vertical axis) of a model of a self-organizing colony of 26.8 million cells increase in proportion to the number of computers used (horizontal axis).

Scale

The number of cells (vertical axis, right) that can be simulated at a particular rate (vertical axis, left) also increases in proportion to the number of computers used (horizontal axis).

Visualize

The Biovision Visualization Platform has been developed especially for exploring the results from Biocellion simulations. Interactive histology features allow users to zoom-in and slice-open any location within massive cell systems and to observe emergent system behaviors. Cell types are distinguished by color and shape.
